The Speed of Light Revisited
You may have remembered Vardiman’s article from the December Acts & Facts on the FTL neutrinos, Has Einstein’s Limit on the Speed of Light Been Broken? As he was fairly cautious in the original article, he doesn’t owe a mea culpa for that. And, indeed, this article is even tamer, not even touching on the creationism aspects he talked about in the previous article. Instead, it’s a (belated) news report, fairly accurate though not in any way encyclopedic. That being said, I’m not sure about the accuracy of the statement that “ICARUS is a second international team of scientists who operate at CERN.” But that’s a minor point.
I’m enjoying this post. I particularly like your discussion on page 3. The fact is that, as you say, “good isn’t the same thing as perfect.” Too often, YECs hold that “very good” means the universe had been made as some kind of cosmic playground for humans. I don’t see this in the text at all. The theology of YEC is very skewed in that they hold God’s purposes are all about making things great and wonderful for us. It’s very anthropocentric, and it doesn’t seem to reflect Biblical teaching.
